Old Hickory is a historic community on the Cumberland River at the northeast corner of Davidson County, next to Old Hickory Lake. Plenty of residents pull boat trailers or haul gear to the water, and launch ramps, trailer hitches and tight turns at the lake add their own scrapes and rear bumper dents.

Peeling clear coat
Once clear coat starts to flake, it won’t polish back. The panel has to be sanded down past the failed layer, then recoated and blended. Catching it early keeps the repair smaller.

My rear bumper got scraped backing a boat trailer. Is it repairable?
Usually. Scrapes and small dents in a bumper cover can be repaired and refinished. If the trailer hitch area pushed the bumper inward, we'll check the mounts too.
Can sun-faded paint be restored?
Oxidized paint can sometimes be brought back with polishing. If the clear coat is peeling, the panel needs to be refinished.
