Pegram is a small Cheatham County town west of Bellevue, and getting almost anywhere means time on US-70 and tree-lined two-lane roads. Low branches, roadside brush and narrow shoulders make door and quarter-panel scratches more common than they are in town.
Cars parked under hardwoods also collect sap and pollen, and when that sits through a hot Tennessee summer it can etch into the clear coat. Washing it off soon makes a real difference; once it has etched, polishing or refinishing may be needed.

What a rural commute does to paint
Gravel driveways and chip-sealed county roads throw small stones at the hood, bumper and lower doors. A single chip is easy to ignore, but once the metal is exposed it can start to rust, so it is worth having chips sealed before winter.

Frequently asked questions
Can tree sap damage be fixed, or does the panel need paint?
Fresh sap usually washes or polishes off. If it has etched a dull spot into the clear coat, we look at how deep it goes before recommending polishing or refinishing.
Is a small scrape from a roadside branch worth fixing?
If it is only in the clear coat, polishing usually takes care of it. If it reached the color coat or primer, fixing it sooner keeps moisture out and keeps the repair small.
